Rubens is a particularly attractive Cox-style apple, originating from the Netherlands in the 1950s. The flavour is sweet and pleasant but not particularly remarkable. The flesh is quite soft and dry.
Not to be confused with a new variety from Italy with the same name which has just started to be promoted to supermarkets - see Rubens®.

Visitor reviews
- 18 Oct 2011 NetherlandsI just had a Rubens from my local grocers. It was very (almost too) sweet, crunchy and surprisingly juicy so the description of dry, soft flesh didn't seem accurate to me.
